Description

This 1/2 inch Watts LF601S Silent Check Valve with solder end connections is engineered for efficient prevention of water hammer in plumbing and industrial systems. Featuring Lead Free* cast copper silicon alloy construction and a Viton® disc, it ensures silent operation and durability. The valve is designed for low pressure drop and can be installed horizontally or vertically with upward flow. It offers a maximum working pressure of 250 PSI at 100°F (38°C) and complies with reduced lead content standards. This non-testable check valve is a reliable solution for mitigating fluctuating pressure in various applications.

Connecting the Watts LF601S Silent Check Valve

This LF601S model features solder end connections, specifically designed for soft soldering into piping lines. For optimal performance and to prevent seat damage, it is crucial to use a low temperature solder, ideally around 420°F (216°C). While other solders like 95/5 tin antimony (460°F) or 96/4 tin silver (430°F) can be used, extreme caution must be exercised as higher temperatures can damage the valve's seat material. Always apply heat with the flame directed AWAY from the center of the valve body.

ANSI B16.18 standards indicate that the maximum operating pressure for 50-50 solder connections is 200 psi (13.8 bars) at 100°F (38°C), and this pressure rating decreases with higher temperatures.
