Description

This Watts 1 1/2 inch Y pattern reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly (RPZ) effectively prevents the reverse flow of high hazard (toxic) fluids into potable water supplies. Constructed with a durable bronze body and featuring quarter turn shutoff valves, it ensures maximum protection for applications like industrial plants, hospitals, and irrigation systems. The assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology, which, when combined with an add-on connection kit, delivers critical alerts for excessive relief valve discharge to BAS or the Nexa platform via Wi-Fi. Its modular design allows for easy maintenance.

Help Me Connect

This 1 1/2 inch Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly includes an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve. For enhanced monitoring and alert capabilities, it is designed for integration with external systems.

Flood Monitoring and Alerts

  • The flood sensor activates when paired with an add-on sensor connection kit to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options include:
    • Integration with Building Management Systems (BMS).
    • Cellular communication for remote alerts.
    • The Sensor Control Monitor, which enables integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What type of fluids does this backflow preventer protect against?

This backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of high hazard (toxic) fluids from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.

What is the primary function of the SentryPlus Alert® technology?

SentryPlus Alert® technology is integrated with a flood sensor to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve, signaling potential flooding events.

How does this backflow preventer communicate alerts to users?

When paired with an add-on sensor connection kit, the flood sensor activates to relay alerts to a Building Automation System (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or to the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

What are the main components of this 1 1/2 inch backflow assembly?

This assembly features a bronze body, threaded quarter turn ball valves, test cocks, spring-loaded Y pattern check valves, one hydraulically dependent differential relief valve, and a flood sensor.

Is this backflow preventer suitable for industrial applications?

Yes, it is explicitly designed for use in water services to industrial plants, hospitals, morgues, mortuaries, chemical plants, irrigation systems, boiler feed, and other installations requiring maximum protection.
