Description

The FEBCO Series LF767FR is a 1 inch Lead Free freeze-resistant pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer. It prevents backsiphonage of contaminated water into potable water supplies, suitable for continuous pressure health hazard applications like irrigation systems. Its superior design features a unique built-in relief valve that protects internal components from freezing by relieving pressure caused by ice formation. Constructed from Lead Free* cast silicon copper alloy with Female NPT connections and quarter-turn lever handle shutoffs, it offers easy maintenance and durability with a silicone seat disc. The assembly is rated for 15 to 150 psi and 33°F to 140°F, meeting ASSE 1020 and NSF/ANSI 372 standards.

Installation Guidelines

  • This valve must be installed in a continuous pressure potable water supply system.
  • Ensure the installation point is 12 inches (305mm) above the highest point of the downstream piping to prevent backpressure conditions.
  • Connect the supply to the bottom and install the valve in a vertical position.
  • Allow adequate space around the valve for periodic inspection, servicing, or testing.
  • Do not install in areas where freezing or spillage could cause damage; provide adequate drainage and freeze protection in cold weather.
  • A minimum of 1.5 psi (10 kPa) must be exerted against the float spring to seal the float and air inlet.
  • Avoid undersizing supply and discharge piping.

Freeze Protection & Winterization

  • To winterize, first close the main shutoff valve.
  • Next, open the upstream drain, test cocks, and isolation ball valves to depressurize the line.
  • Purge the system with air.
  • Leave test cocks and isolation ball valve handles in a 45° angle to drain ball valves and prevent casting damage.

Note: These vacuum breakers are not designed, tested, or approved to protect against backpressure backflow or water hammer shock. For protection against backpressure backflow, install a Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer.

Additional Details

This 1 inch Lead Free freeze-resistant pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage.

It is ideal for continuous pressure health hazard applications, such as irrigation systems and industrial process water systems, particularly where exposure to sudden freezing conditions can occur.

Freeze Protection Features

  • Features a unique built-in relief valve that relieves pressure caused by ice formation, protecting the valve body and internal components during sudden freeze conditions.
  • Water inside the PVB freezes from the outside-inward, and as ice forms and expands, the relief valve, built into the plastic float, automatically relieves pressure.
  • The relief valve is designed to be repeatable and automatically re-seats when pressure within the valve is below its set point, and will not discharge during normal operation.

Construction & Design

  • Constructed with Lead Free* cast silicon copper alloy body and Lead Free* materials to comply with installation requirements.
  • Equipped with quarter-turn ball valve shutoffs featuring lever handles.
  • Test cocks are positioned at the lowest point of the valve for easy testing and winterization draining.
  • Designed for easy maintenance of internal parts with no special tools required for servicing.
  • Features a compact, space-saving design.
  • Includes a silicone seat disc for durability and an O-ring bonnet seal for less possibility of fouling.
  • Internal parts are serviceable in-line from the top of the unit.

Note: The built-in relief valve is not designed to provide freeze protection for the entire irrigation system.
