Additional Details

This 1 inch Lead Free freeze-resistant pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer (PVB) is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage under continuous pressure. Its superior design protects the valve body and internal components during sudden freeze conditions by relieving pressure caused by ice formation.

Key Features

  • Features a unique built-in relief valve to relieve pressure from ice formation.
  • Includes a freeze sensor for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology to monitor temperature and alert facility personnel when freeze conditions occur.
  • Equipped with tee handle quarter turn ball valve shutoffs for easy operation.
  • Test cocks are positioned for easy testing and winterization.
  • Features a compact, space-saving design.
  • Constructed with a Lead Free cast copper silicon alloy body for durability.
  • Requires no special tools for servicing.

Internal Components

  • Incorporates a replaceable plastic seat and a durable silicone seat disc.
  • Designed for easy maintenance of internal parts.
  • Includes an O-ring bonnet seal for less possibility of fouling.

A WARNING: The freeze sensor provides alerts about a possible freeze event but cannot prevent it. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage. An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the freeze sensor's communication functions.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts LF800M4FR-FZ pressure vacuum breaker?

The primary function is to prevent backsiphonage, which is the reverse flow of contaminated water into a potable water supply, particularly in continuous pressure systems like irrigation or industrial process water systems.

How does this device protect against freezing?

The LF800M4FR-FZ features a superior design that protects the valve body and internal components during sudden freeze conditions. It includes a unique built-in relief valve that relieves pressure caused by ice formation within the device.

What is the purpose of the integrated freeze sensor?

The freeze sensor is designed for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology. It monitors temperature and alerts facility personnel when freeze conditions may occur, helping to prevent damage to equipment, although it does not prevent freezing itself.

Does the freeze sensor require additional components to function?

Yes, an add-on connection kit, which is sold separately, is required to activate the freeze sensor's communication capabilities. Without this kit, the sensor acts as a passive component with no external communication.

What are the recommended installation requirements for this pressure vacuum breaker?

This valve should be installed in a continuous pressure potable water supply system, 12 inches above the highest point of the downstream piping. It must be installed with the supply connected to the bottom and in a vertical position. Adequate space for inspection, servicing, and testing should be allowed.
