Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • This assembly includes an integrated flood sensor on the relief valve.
  • To activate the sensor's alert features, an add-on sensor connection kit is required (sold separately).
  • Without a connection kit, the sensor is a passive component and cannot communicate with other devices.
  • Add-on sensor connection kits are available for both Building Management System (BMS) and cellular communications.

Additional Details

This 1 inch Watts SS009 series stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the flow of polluted water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.

It is ideal for typical applications in industrial plants, medical diagnostic equipment, reverse osmosis systems, carbonated beverage machines, brewing distilleries, paper and pulp industries, chemical plants, and aggressive atmospheres.

This assembly incorporates a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

Construction & Design

  • Investment Cast 316 Stainless Steel Assembly for superior corrosion resistance.
  • All wetted valve components, including test cocks, ball valve shutoffs, and pipe nipples, are made from Lead Free* stainless steel or plastic.
  • Bolted on, top entry single access cover for ease of maintenance and servicing.
  • Modular check construction features non-reversible checks with captured springs for simplified servicing.
  • True line sized check modules open further to reduce fouling problems caused by dirt and debris.
  • Check and relief valve seats are replaceable without special tools.
  • Designed with an internal relief valve for both right and left-hand installations and reduced installation clearances.

Components & Connections

  • Features NPT inlet and outlet end connections.
  • Includes a protective stainless steel wye strainer with a 20 mesh screen.
  • Equipped with quarter-turn full port resilient seated ball valve shutoffs with tee handles.
  • Top-mounted, vandal-resistant test cocks with covers provide easy access for testing.
  • Composed of two in-line independent check valves, captured springs, replaceable check seats, and a hydraulically operated differential pressure internal relief valve.

Flood Detection

  • Incorporates a flood sensor on the relief valve for detection of excessive water discharge.
  • The flood sensor, when activated through an add-on sensor connection kit (available separately for BMS or cellular communications), can send an alert to notify users of potential flooding.

Warning: Use of the flood sensor is a notification aid and does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the necessity of providing proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

*The wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.
