Additional Details

This 1 inch freeze resistant pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer helps prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage. It is ideal for continuous pressure health hazard applications where exposure to sudden freezing conditions can occur, such as on irrigation systems and industrial process water systems.

Features

  • Equipped with a freeze sensor for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology to signal facility personnel when temperature nears and reaches the freezing point
  • Features a unique built-in relief valve designed to protect internal components and the backflow body from freezing by relieving pressure caused by ice formation
  • Includes quarter turn shutoffs with tee handles and union connections for ease of installation and maintenance
  • Bronze body construction provides durability and a long service life
  • Designed with test cocks positioned at the lowest point of the valve for proper winterization draining
  • Reusable device with an automatically reseating relief valve that does not discharge during normal operation

The freeze sensor solely provides alerts about a possible freeze event and cannot prevent a freeze event from occurring. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage. An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the freeze sensor; without this kit, the sensor is a passive component and has no communication with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this pressure vacuum breaker?

The primary function is to prevent backsiphonage of contaminated water from entering the potable water supply. It is designed for continuous pressure applications where health hazards may exist.

Does this device provide freeze protection for an entire system?

No, the built-in relief valve is designed to protect the internal components of the device itself from freezing. Adequate drainage and freeze protection for the entire irrigation system or piping must be provided separately in cold weather applications.

How does the freeze sensor work?

The integrated freeze sensor is designed for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology, which signals facility personnel when temperatures approach or reach freezing. An add-on connection kit, sold separately, is required to activate the sensor's communication features.

What are the recommended installation requirements for this valve?

The valve should be installed 12 inches above the highest point of the downstream piping, with the supply connected to the bottom, in a vertical position. Ensure adequate space for inspection, servicing, or testing, and avoid areas prone to freezing or spillage.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this device?

This pressure vacuum breaker has a maximum working pressure of 150 PSI (10.3 bar). The recommended operating temperature range is 33°F to 140°F (1°C to 60°C).
