Additional Details

The Ames Fire & Waterworks Series 3000SS 10 inch Double Check Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to prevent the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection system substances into the potable water supply.

This assembly is designed for use in non-health hazard containment applications, protecting against backsiphonage and backpressure in accordance with national plumbing codes and water authority requirements, often at the service line entrance for fire protection systems.

Key Features

  • Features a Cam-Check Assembly valve for low head loss.
  • Short lay length makes it ideally suited for retrofit installations.
  • Constructed with a stainless steel body, making it half the weight of competitive designs to reduce installation and shipping costs.
  • Stainless steel construction provides long term corrosion protection and maximum strength.
  • Equipped with a single top access cover with a two-bolt grooved style coupling for ease of maintenance.
  • No special tools are required for servicing.
  • Compact construction allows for installation in smaller vaults and enclosures.
  • Furnished with a 5/8" x 3/4" bronze meter (gpm or cfm) to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • May be installed in a horizontal or vertical "flow up" position (ASSE Only).
  • Includes an integrated supervisory switch as an option on each gate valve of the OS&Y model.

Construction Details

  • Main valve body is manufactured from 300 Series stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance and is 100% lead free* through the waterway.
  • Consists of two independently operating, spring loaded check valves and two UL, FM, OSY resilient seated gate valves.
  • The bypass assembly includes a meter (cubic ft. or gallons), a double check, shutoff valves, and required test cocks.
  • Each cam-check is internally loaded, providing positive drip tight closure against reverse flow, and features a stainless steel cam arm and spring, rubber faced disc, and a replaceable seat without brass or bronze parts.
  • Check valve seats are made of molded thermoplastic construction.
  • A single cover allows access to all internal parts, held by a two-bolt grooved style coupling.
  • The bypass line is hydraulically sized for low flow, with a small diameter double check assembly including test cocks, isolation valves, two modular poppet check valves, and top mounted test cocks.
  • The integrated supervisory tamper switch is designed to have continuity with the valve fully open and activate within two (2) turns from open, signaling tamper when closed or removed.
