Application and Connections

This 10 inch Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer is designed for critical fire protection and non-potable service applications where preventing cross-contamination of the potable water supply is essential. Its grooved couplings facilitate straightforward installation and pipe alignment within your system.

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology can be activated with an optional add-on connection kit to relay real-time alerts. These kits allow for integration with various communication platforms, including BMS, cellular networks, or the Sensor Control Monitor for connection to BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi. This ensures comprehensive monitoring against water discharge from the relief valve.

Additional Details

The Colt™ 10 inch Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water into potable water supplies due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is ideal for protecting against cross-connections identified as health hazards, such as on fire sprinkler systems and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

This assembly features a durable 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel body with a quick-access sleeve, torsion spring check valves, and outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) resilient seated gate valves. It also includes a corrosive-resistant, bottom-mounted pressure relief valve and bronze body nickel-plated test cocks. A gallon per minute meter is furnished to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.

This backflow assembly contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

A WARNING: It is illegal to use this product in a plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Before installing standard material product, consult your local water authority, building and plumbing codes.
