Installation & Connectivity

  • This Watts 007M1DCDA backflow preventer is approved for both horizontal and vertical up flow installations.
  • Installation is recommended after a water meter and/or main line isolation shutoff valve, following the latest Uniform Plumbing Code and local governing codes.
  • The integrated freeze sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to activate its communication features.
  • With the connection kit, the sensor can provide direct Wi-Fi alerts or integrate with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Irrigation Management Systems (IMS) for enhanced monitoring.
  • Without the connection kit, the freeze sensor operates as a passive component and does not communicate with other devices.

Additional Details

This 2 inch Watts Series 007M1DCDA Double Check Detector Assembly is engineered to prevent reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water into the potable supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

It is primarily used on commercial fire sprinkler systems and at cross-connections identified as non-health hazards, ensuring compliance with local governing water utility codes and plumbing codes.

Key Features

  • Compact modular design with a single top entry cover for ease of installation and maintenance.
  • Equipped with UL Classified OS&Y gate valves and resilient seated test cocks.
  • Main valve features captured modular spring-loaded checks and field replaceable seats and discs.
  • Servicing of check modules requires no special tools.

Auxiliary Bypass System

  • Integrated 5/8" x 3/4" water meter (ANSI/AWWA Standard C700 compliant) to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • Auxiliary bypass line and components are field replaceable.

Freeze Protection with SentryPlus Alert® Technology

  • Includes an exterior freeze sensor to monitor temperature and alert facility personnel when conditions approach or reach freezing.
  • The sensor supports SentryPlus Alert® technology to trigger alerts for low and freezing temperatures.
  • A separately sold connection kit is required to activate the sensor's communication functions, enabling Wi-Fi connectivity for direct alerts to the user or integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Irrigation Management Systems (IMS).
  • The included standalone sensor offers flexibility for placement near outdoor installations vulnerable to freezing.

WARNING: The freeze sensor solely provides alerts about a possible freeze event and cannot prevent a freeze event from occurring. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage. The freeze sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of the backflow preventer.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Watts 007M1DCDA Double Check Detector Assembly?

This assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances caused by backpressure or backsiphonage. It is typically used in commercial fire sprinkler systems or other non-health hazard cross-connections.

How does the freeze sensor operate, and what is needed to activate its full functionality?

The integrated freeze sensor monitors temperature and triggers alerts for low and freezing conditions using SentryPlus Alert® technology. To activate its communication features, such as Wi-Fi alerts or integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Irrigation Management Systems (IMS), an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required.

Does the freeze sensor prevent pipes from freezing?

No, the freeze sensor solely provides alerts about a possible freeze event. It cannot prevent a freeze from occurring. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage.

Are special tools needed to service the check modules?

No, the main valve assembly is designed for in-line servicing with captured modular spring-loaded checks and field replaceable seats and discs, and it does not require any special tools for maintenance.

What flow orientations are approved for this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is approved for both horizontal and vertical up flow installations, providing flexibility for various system configurations.
