Additional Details

This 2 1/2 inch lead free MasterSeries® double check detector backflow preventer assembly prevents the backflow of pollutants, due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure, that are objectionable but not toxic, from entering into the potable water supply. It is ideal for protection of non-health hazard cross-connections or for containment at the service line entrance, primarily on fire sprinkler and standpipe systems requiring detection of unauthorized water use.

The iron components of this backflow preventer are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate. This assembly is designed for in-line servicing without special tools.

FAQs

What is the primary application of this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed for non-health hazard applications to protect potable water supplies from pollutants due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is commonly used on fire sprinkler and standpipe systems where detection of unauthorized water use is required.

Is this product considered lead-free?

Yes, this MasterSeries® LF856 assembly is lead-free. The wetted surface of the product that comes into contact with consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, meeting current lead-free standards.

What is ArmorTek® coating and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the iron components of the backflow preventer. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the assembly.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this device?

The maximum working pressure for this 2 1/2 inch backflow preventer is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It has a continuous operating temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

How does the detector bypass assembly function?

The auxiliary bypass line includes a 5/8" x 3/4" water meter (ANSI/AWWA C700 Compliant) and is designed to detect small leaks or unauthorized water usage within the system. This feature helps identify potential water loss that might otherwise go unnoticed.
