Description

The 2 1/2 inch FEBCO LF866V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed for protecting potable water systems from high hazard backpressure and backsiphonage. Its lead-free ductile iron body is coated with ArmorTek advanced epoxy for superior corrosion resistance, including microbial-induced corrosion. This assembly features a GPM metered bypass and an integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor to detect excessive relief valve discharge. An add-on connection kit is required to activate the sensor's alert capabilities. It meets ASSE 1047, UL Classified, and FM Approved standards for reliable performance in industrial and high-hazard applications.

Help Me Connect

Connecting the Backflow Preventer

This 2 1/2 inch Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly features flanged end connections compliant with ASME B16.1 Class 125 and AWWA Class D Flange standards. Ensure your piping system has compatible flanges for proper installation.

Activating the Flood Sensor

  • To activate the integrated flood sensor and enable alerts, an add-on connection kit is required (sold separately). Without this kit, the sensor remains a passive component.
  • Connection kit options include interfaces for Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor can integrate with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additional Details

This 2 1/2 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF866V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage conditions involving high hazard (toxic) fluids.

It is suitable for industrial installations and applications where local governing codes mandate protection against non-potable water being pumped or siphoned back into the system.

Key Features

  • Lead Free construction to comply with low lead installation requirements.
  • Designed to protect against backpressure and backsiphonage in high hazard (toxic) applications.
  • Ductile iron body construction with patented ArmorTek® three-part advanced epoxy coating system to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • Stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools for maintenance.
  • Captured modular spring assembly, reversible, and replaceable discs.
  • Field replaceable seats for easier maintenance.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly with captured O-ring design.
  • Detector bypass assembly with a gallons per minute (GPM) meter.

Flood Sensor Operation

  • The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve, signaling potential flooding.
  • An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor; without it, the sensor is passive and will not communicate alerts.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.
  • The flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all installation, operation, and maintenance instructions and codes, including proper drainage. Watts® is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

Important Safety Information

  • Thoroughly read all installation instructions and product safety information before beginning installation. Inquire with governing authorities for local installation requirements.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the FEBCO LF866V assembly?

The FEBCO LF866V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from both backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, especially in high hazard/toxic applications where non-potable water could contaminate the supply.

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF866V is constructed with lead-free materials to comply with low lead installation requirements for potable water systems.

How does the ArmorTek coating benefit this backflow preventer?

The patented ArmorTek three-part advanced epoxy coating system protects the ductile iron body components internally and externally, significantly reducing microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and safeguarding the exposed metal substrate for extended durability.

What is the function of the integrated flood sensor?

The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve, indicating potential flooding. An add-on connection kit is required to activate its alert capabilities.

Are shutoff valves included with this LF866V-LG model?

No, this specific LF866V-LG model (Less Shutoff Valves) does not include shutoff valves. They must be sourced separately if required for your installation.
