Additional Details

The AMES Series 5000SS 2 1/2 inch Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to safeguard potable water supplies from contamination caused by backpressure or backsiphonage of non-potable substances, specifically for fire protection systems and other non-potable service applications.

This assembly is ideal for uses such as irrigation, fireline systems, and industrial processing, particularly in health hazard applications. It features a compact, modular design with a lightweight stainless steel body and domestic grooved outside stem and yoke resilient seated gate valves.

WARNING: It is illegal to use this product in any plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Before installing, consult your local water authority, building, and plumbing codes.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The sensor relays a signal to facility personnel for corrective action, helping to limit flooding and costly damage.
  • An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's communication capabilities. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Construction & Components

  • Main body and internal metal parts are constructed from 300 Series stainless steel for long-term corrosion resistance and maximum strength.
  • Features thermoplastic cam-check valves for maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • A corrosion-resistant stainless steel bottom-mounted relief valve with a balanced rolling diaphragm minimizes sliding seals and lowers maintenance.
  • Equipped with a gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Domestic outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.

Design & Installation Benefits

  • Lightweight stainless steel body reduces installation and shipping costs.
  • Short end-to-end dimensions make retrofit installations easier.
  • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures.
  • No special tools required for servicing.
  • Bottom-mounted relief valve design reduces clearance requirements, especially when installed against an outside wall.
