System Compatibility

This Watts LF709-DNRS-IOT Double Check Valve Assembly is designed for non-health hazard installations to prevent polluted water from entering potable water systems. It features flanged end connections for secure integration into continuous pressure piping applications. The assembly includes integrated pressure-sensing test cocks that are part of a Smart and Connected (IOT) system.

Monitoring Connection

  • To activate the integrated pressure sensors and collect data, an add-on monitoring connection kit is required.
  • Without this kit, the sensors are passive components and will not communicate data.
  • The connection kit communicates over a wired serial (RS-485) interface and is compatible with most Building Management (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • The kit enables monitoring and assessment of backflow assembly performance and the water supply system, providing data for maintenance and repair scheduling.

Additional Details

The Watts 2.5 inch LF709 Lead Free Double Check Valve Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water system. This assembly is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and cross-connections identified as non-health hazards.

This backflow preventer features integrated pressure-sensing test cocks that measure pressure fluctuations at three points. When activated with an add-on monitoring connection kit, the sensors collect, convert, and transmit data for use in a building management system, aiding in performance assessment between code testing.

Construction & Design

  • Features a compact modular design concept for simplified maintenance and assembly, including a single access cover for in-line repairs.
  • Constructed with an epoxy coated cast iron body and domestic Non-Rising Stem (NRS) resilient seated gate valves.
  • Includes two in-line independent positive seating check modules with captured springs and replaceable check discs and seats.
  • Utilizes ArmorTek® coating technology, a patented 3-part advanced epoxy system, designed to limit both microbial induced (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion on internal and external surfaces.
  • Lead Free* construction ensures the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

Integrated Technology

  • Equipped with Smart and Connected technology (Model IOT) standard, featuring integrated sensors at test cocks No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4.
  • Sensors measure pressure fluctuations at three locations to enable monitoring and assessment of backflow assembly performance and the water supply system.

NOTICE: For Model IOT, an add-on monitoring connection kit is required to collect data from the pressure sensors. Without this kit, the sensors are passive components that do not communicate with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Watts LF709-DNRS-IOT backflow preventer?

Its primary purpose is to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into a potable water system, protecting against backsiphonage and backpressure in non-health hazard installations.

What does "Lead Free*" construction mean for this product?

"Lead Free*" construction indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the integrated pressure-sensing technology (IOT) work?

The IOT model comes standard with integrated sensors at test cocks No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4. These sensors measure pressure fluctuations. To collect, convert, and transmit this data to a building management system, an add-on monitoring connection kit is required.

What is ArmorTek® coating, and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the internal and external surfaces of the cast iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.

What type of shutoff valves does this assembly use?

This assembly uses domestic Non-Rising Stem (NRS) resilient seated gate valves, which are integrated for control of water flow.
