Additional Details

The Watts 2 1/2 inch Lead Free Series LF709 Double Check Valve Assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water into the potable water supply. This assembly is ideal for non-health hazard installations in continuous pressure piping applications and cross-connections where approved by local authority.

Construction & Design

  • Features a fused epoxy coated cast iron body for durability.
  • Utilizes a modular check design concept to facilitate complete maintenance and assembly, retaining the spring load.
  • Replaceable stainless steel seats and captured spring assemblies ensure safety and ease of service without special tools.
  • The entire assembly, including iron components, is coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Approved for vertical flow up installation.

Integrated IOT Technology

  • Equipped with pressure-sensing test cocks (No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4) that measure pressure fluctuations at three locations.
  • This technology enables monitoring and assessment of certain aspects of backflow assembly performance and the water supply system.
  • An add-on monitoring connection kit (available separately) is required to activate the sensors, collect data, and transmit values over a wired serial (RS-485) interface to a Building Management System (BMS/BAS).
  • Notice: Use of integrated pressure sensors and the monitoring connection kit does not replace compliance with all required instructions, codes, and regulations for installation, operation, and maintenance. Watts is not responsible for data transmission failures due to power issues.

Lead Free Compliance

  • Constructed with Lead Free* materials to comply with installation requirements, ensuring the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Watts LF709 Double Check Valve Assembly?

The primary purpose is to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering a potable water supply system. It is designed for installations where non-health hazard conditions exist.

Is this backflow preventer Lead Free?

Yes, the Watts LF709 Double Check Valve Assembly is constructed with Lead Free materials, ensuring the wetted surface contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

What is ArmorTek® coating, and what are its benefits?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the iron components of the backflow preventer. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates from electrochemical corrosion.

How do the integrated pressure-sensing test cocks work?

The Series LF709 includes integrated pressure-sensing test cocks (No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4) that measure pressure fluctuations. To collect and transmit this data to a Building Management System (BMS/BAS), an add-on monitoring connection kit (sold separately) is required.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this assembly?

This assembly has a maximum operating pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). The continuous temperature range is 33°F - 110°F (0.5°C - 43°C), with an intermittent range up to 140°F (60°C).
