Connections

  • The assembly features grooved inlet and outlet connections for integral pipeline adjustment and easy installation with compatible grooved fittings.

Flood Sensor Activation

To activate the integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology, an add-on sensor connection kit is required. Without this kit, the flood sensor operates as a passive component and will not communicate with other devices. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

The Colt 2 1/2 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly provides robust protection to potable water systems by preventing the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water due to backsiphonage and backpressure. It is ideal for safeguarding cross-connections identified as health hazards, such as those found in fire sprinkler systems and at service line entrances.

This compact modular design features a Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel body with a quick access sleeve and includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Colt LFC500 Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly?

Its primary function is to protect potable water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. This is crucial for health-hazard cross-connections like fire sprinkler systems.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this model?

This model, LFC500-OSY-G-FS, comes with UL Classified and FM Approved outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves. These valves provide reliable shutoff capability for the assembly.

How does the flood sensor function in this backflow preventer?

The backflow preventer includes an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it detects excessive water discharges and can relay signals for potential flooding alerts.

What materials are used for the main body and internal components?

The housing and sleeve are constructed from durable Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel. Internal components such as elastomers (EPDM, silicone, Buna-N) and check discs (reversible silicone or EPDM) ensure reliable operation and longevity.

What are the connection types for this 2 1/2 inch assembly?

This assembly features grooved inlet and outlet connections. These connections are designed for integral pipeline adjustment and facilitate easy installation with compatible grooved fittings.
