Help Me Connect

This backflow preventer utilizes grooved connections for both the inlet and outlet.

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (not included) to activate its alert features and enable communication.

Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This Colt 2 1/2 inch lead free reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly safeguards potable water systems from contamination caused by backsiphonage and backpressure. It also monitors for unauthorized water use from the fire protection system and includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology.

Design & Construction

  • Features an extremely compact design, approximately 70% lighter than traditional designs.
  • Constructed with a Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve.
  • Equipped with groove fittings for integral pipeline adjustment.
  • Approved for horizontal Z pattern installation.
  • Includes a metered bypass furnished with a gallon per minute meter to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Comes with a corrosive resistant bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve.

Valves & Checks

  • Consists of two independent Link Check modules with reversible elastomer discs.
  • Features a patented link check for lowest pressure loss.
  • Offers unmatched ease of serviceability with replaceable check disc rubber.
  • Includes grooved gear operated butterfly valves with tamper switches.

Detection & Alerts

  • Incorporates a flood sensor on the relief valve for flood detection with SentryPlus Alert® technology.
  • An add-on sensor connection kit activates the flood alert feature, relaying signals (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding.
  • When paired with a connection kit, the Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS via RS‑485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any other device.
