Description

This 2-inch FEBCO LF825Y Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly protects potable water supplies from high hazard (toxic) fluids. Featuring lead-free cast copper silicon alloy construction and quarter-turn shutoff valves, it is suitable for industrial plants, hospitals, chemical facilities, irrigation, and boiler feed systems. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive relief valve discharge, limiting potential flooding. Rated for 175 psi maximum working pressure and water temperatures from 32°F to 140°F. Meets ASSE 1013, AWWA C511, and CSA B64.4 standards.

Help Me Connect

Connecting the Flood Sensor

  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the integrated flood sensor. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component without communication.
  • Connection kit options include BMS (Building Management System), cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS (Building Automation System) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.

Assembly Connections

  • This backflow preventer assembly features NPT ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 threaded end connections.
  • The assembly includes quarter turn ball valves for shutoff.

Additional Details

This 2 inch lead free Y pattern reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly, Model LF825Y, protects potable water supplies from the reverse flow of high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is ideal for water services in industrial plants, hospitals, morgues, mortuaries, chemical plants, irrigation systems, boiler feed, and water lines requiring maximum protection.

Features and Benefits

  • Lead Free* construction to comply with Lead Free* installation requirements.
  • Integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve, limiting flooding and costly damage.
  • Modular relief valve and check valves for ease of maintenance and simple service procedures.
  • All internal parts are serviceable in line without removing the valve body.
  • Quarter turn shutoff valves for quick and easy operation.
  • Spring loaded "Y" type check valves and a hydraulically dependent differential relief valve.
  • Meets all specifications of AWWA, ASSE, and CSA standards.
  • Low head loss design.
  • Replaceable seat rings on all sizes.
  • End connection type: NPT ANSI/ASME B1.20.1.

Operation Overview

  • In normal flow conditions, the check valves are open, maintaining the pressure in the zone between checks at least 5 psi lower than the inlet pressure, and the relief valve remains closed.
  • Should abnormal conditions or reversal of flow occur, the differential relief valve opens, discharging to maintain the zone at least 2 psi lower than the supply.
  • When normal flow resumes, the differential pressure in the zone resumes and the relief valve closes.

Notice: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any other device.

Notice: Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity or power issues.

FAQs

What type of backflow prevention does this assembly provide?

This is a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly, designed to protect potable water from high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure.

Is the assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO Series LF825Y features lead-free cast copper silicon alloy construction, ensuring that the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight.

What is the purpose of the integrated flood sensor?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it relays alerts to facility personnel to prevent flooding and costly damage.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature limits for this device?

This backflow preventer is rated for a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate within a water temperature range of 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C).

What industry standards and approvals does this assembly meet?

This assembly meets ASSE Standard 1013, AWWA Standard Code C511, and CSA Standard B64.4. It is also approved by the Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research at the University of Southern California, and NSF Certified to NSF/ANSI 61-G.
