Installation Guidelines

  • This valve is designed for installation in a continuous pressure potable water supply system.
  • It must be installed 12 inches above the highest point of the downstream piping.
  • The valve requires installation in a vertical position with the supply connected to the bottom.
  • Ensure adequate space is allowed for periodic inspection, servicing, and testing.
  • Do not install in areas where freezing or spillage may cause damage; adequate drainage/freeze protection must be provided in cold weather applications.
  • NOTICE: Vacuum breakers are not designed, tested, or approved to protect against backpressure backflow or water hammer shock. For protection against backpressure backflow, install Watts 909/009 Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer. For protection against water hammer shock, install a Watts Series 15 Water Hammer Arrestor.

Freeze Sensor Connectivity

The included freeze sensor works with SentryPlus Alert® technology to monitor temperature and signal facility personnel. An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the freeze sensor's communication features, enabling alerts via Wi-Fi networks, building management systems (BMS), or irrigation management systems (IMS).

Additional Details

This 3/4 inch Watts Series 800M4QT anti-siphon pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer is designed to prevent the backsiphonage of contaminated water into a potable water supply.

It is ideally suited for health hazard continuous pressure applications, such as irrigation systems and industrial process water systems where the water enters the equipment at or below its flood rim.

Key Features

  • Features a durable bronze body construction.
  • Includes a freeze sensor for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology to signal facility personnel when temperatures approach freezing.
  • The sensor supports Wi-Fi networks, building management systems (BMS), and irrigation management systems (IMS) with an optional add-on connection kit (sold separately).
  • Designed for easy maintenance with replaceable internal parts and requires no special tools for servicing.
  • An acetal bonnet functions as a "freeze plug" to help prevent costly body damage.
  • Equipped with tee handle quarter turn ball valve shutoffs and conveniently positioned test cocks for easy testing and winterization.
  • Features a compact, space-saving design.

WARNING: The freeze sensor solely provides alerts about a possible freeze event and cannot prevent a freeze event from occurring. User action is required to prevent freeze conditions from causing product and/or property damage.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts 800M4QT Antisiphon Pressure Vacuum Breaker?

This device is designed to prevent the reverse flow of contaminated water (backsiphonage) from entering a potable water supply. It is ideal for continuous pressure applications such as irrigation and industrial process water systems.

What are the operating temperature and pressure limits for this vacuum breaker?

The Watts 800M4QT can operate within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C). It has a maximum working pressure of 150 psi (10.3 bar) and a minimum working pressure of 15 psi (55kPa).

How does the integrated freeze sensor work, and is it ready out of the box?

The freeze sensor uses SentryPlus Alert® technology to monitor temperature and alert personnel when conditions approach freezing. An add-on connection kit, sold separately, is required to activate the sensor's communication features for Wi-Fi networks, BMS, or IMS. Without the kit, the sensor is a passive component.

What materials are used in the construction of the 800M4QT?

This vacuum breaker features a durable bronze body. Key internal components include stainless steel springs, a Celcon® (acetal) bonnet, silicone rubber vent and check valve discs, a polypropylene disc holder float, and a Noryl® plastic check valve seat.

Where should this vacuum breaker be installed?

It must be installed in a continuous pressure potable water supply system, 12 inches above the highest point of the downstream piping. The valve should be vertical with the supply connected to the bottom. Adequate space for inspection and servicing, and protection against freezing or spillage, must be provided.
