Additional Details
This 3/4 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly provides superior cross-connection control, preventing polluted water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is ideal for health hazard cross-connections and continuous pressure piping applications.
Design & Operation
- Features Watts' exclusive patented air-in and water-out principle for maximum relief valve discharge during emergency conditions, even with both checks fouled.
- Designed for easy installation with a modular, compact structure.
- Can be installed horizontally or vertically (flow-up) in 3/4 inch and 1 inch sizes.
- No special tools are required for servicing the assembly.
Flood Sensor Technology
- Includes an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
- When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
- Connection kit options support BMS, cellular communication, and integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.
- Note: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component and does not communicate with other devices.

FAQs
What is the primary function of the Watts LF909-QT-S-FS backflow preventer?
This assembly provides superior cross-connection control for potable water supplies. Its primary function is to prevent polluted water from flowing back into the drinking water system due to backsiphonage or backpressure, protecting against health hazards.
What does 'Lead Free*' mean for this product?
The 'Lead Free*' designation indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which comes into contact with consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight. This complies with current lead-free installation requirements for potable water systems.
How does the integrated flood sensor work?
This backflow preventer includes an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve. It detects excessive water discharges. For the sensor to relay alerts, an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate its communication features.
What type of connections does this 3/4 inch backflow preventer have?
This 3/4 inch model features 3/4 inch NPT (National Pipe Taper) female threaded connections for both the inlet and outlet. This allows for secure and standard plumbing installations.
Can this backflow preventer be installed vertically?
Yes, for the 3/4 inch size, this assembly is approved for both horizontal and vertical (flow-up) installation. This offers flexibility in piping configurations, making it suitable for various installation environments.
