Additional Details

This 3 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Design & Construction

  • This assembly without the shutoff valves consists of a short lay length lightweight stainless steel body, test cocks, corrosive resistant stainless steel bottom mounted relief valve, and a patented cam-check assembly.
  • Its compact modular design facilitates easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs.
  • The stainless steel body is half the weight of competitive designs, reducing installation and shipping costs.
  • The cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • The stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.

SentryPlus Alert® Flood Sensor

  • This backflow assembly contains a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • This feature alerts for potential flooding events when paired with an add-on connection kit.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer assembly?

This reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of non-potable water or hazardous substances into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

Does this model include shutoff valves?

No, this specific model (LG option) is supplied without integral shutoff valves. It consists of the core backflow preventer body with flanged end connections.

What is the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor and what does it do?

The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor is integrated into the assembly to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, it can relay alerts for potential flooding events, compatible with BMS, cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

What are the key materials used in this assembly?

The main valve body is constructed from 300 Series stainless steel for corrosion resistance, and the cam-check assembly is made from Noryl®.

What are the pressure and temperature ratings for this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 PSI (12.1 bar) and an operating temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).
