Flood Sensor Connectivity

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for activation and communication. Compatible connection kit options include those for BMS (Building Management Systems), cellular network communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor.

  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus.
  • Alternatively, the Sensor Control Monitor can integrate with the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity for remote alerts.

Additional Details

This 3 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and backpressure.

It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance.

Construction & Design

  • Features a short lay length, lightweight stainless steel body for reduced installation and shipping costs.
  • Equipped with resilient seated shutoff valves with non-rising stem (NRS).
  • The cam-check assembly provides maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • Utilizes a stainless steel relief valve with a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs.
  • Compact modular design facilitates easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs.
  • Internal metal parts are 300 Series stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
  • Check assembly is made of Noryl®.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer assembly?

This 3 inch Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of hazardous materials and non-potable water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and backpressure. It is suitable for health-hazard cross-connections.

Is this 4000SS assembly lead-free?

Yes, this assembly features Lead Free* construction, meaning the wetted surface contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the SentryPlus Alert flood sensor work?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor is activated to relay alerts to facility personnel, helping to limit flooding and potential damage.

What are the key materials used in this backflow preventer's construction?

The main valve body and all internal metal parts are made from 300 Series stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The check assembly is constructed from Noryl®, and the relief valve features stainless steel.

What are the operating pressure and temperature limitations for this assembly?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate within a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C).
