FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts 957RPDA Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly?

Its primary function is to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backpressure or backsiphonage, especially in health hazard applications. It also monitors for unauthorized water usage in fire protection systems.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor features SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it relays signals to alert facility personnel of potential flooding events.

Is an additional component required to activate the flood sensor's alert feature?

Yes, an add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert capabilities. Without this kit, the sensor remains a passive component with no communication functionality.

What connection types are typically found on this 3-inch backflow preventer?

This assembly features UL Classified and FM Approved outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves, and the product images and model options indicate it uses flanged inlet and outlet connections.

What are the key materials used in the construction of this assembly?

The housing and sleeve are made from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel. Elastomers include EPDM, silicone, and Buna 'N', while torsion spring checks utilize Noryl® and stainless steel.
