Connection Compatibility

  • This assembly features grooved couplings for integral pipeline adjustment and easy installation.
  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit for active alerting. These kits enable communication via BMS, cellular, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS (RS-485 Modbus) or the Nexa® platform (Wi-Fi).

Installation Guidance

This C400 series backflow preventer is designed for horizontal installation. Refer to the manufacturer's installation instructions and local plumbing codes for specific requirements and proper air gap drain line installation (use 400/500 air gap for drain lines).

Additional Details

The Colt™ C400 3 inch stainless steel reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage and backpressure, suitable for health hazard applications in fire protection and other systems. This assembly is approved for horizontal installation.

Featuring an extremely compact design that is significantly lighter than traditional models, the C400-DOSY-FS includes a Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing with a quick-access sleeve, two independent Link Check modules, a bottom-mounted differential pressure relief valve, and required test cocks. It comes with domestic outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) resilient seated gate valves for drip-tight shutoff.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Equipped with a flood sensor featuring SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert feature, allowing it to relay signals for potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, enabling integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Design & Materials

  • Lead Free* construction ensures the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight.
  • Torsion spring check modules provide unmatched ease of serviceability and lowest pressure loss.
  • Groove couplings facilitate easy installation and integral pipeline adjustment.
  • Reversible silicone or EPDM check disc rubber for durability.
  • Includes an integrated supervisory switch as an option on each OS&Y gate valve.

Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.
