Connections
- This backflow preventer features grooved end connections for easy installation and pipeline adjustment.
- It is approved for horizontal N pattern installation. Ensure that the direction of the flow arrow on the assembly aligns with your system's flow.
- An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alerting capabilities. These kits are available with BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for integration via RS-485 Modbus or Wi-Fi.

Additional Details
This Colt™ 3 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure.
It is approved for horizontal N pattern installation in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards, provided the backflow assembly is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow.
Components
- Stainless steel body with a quick access sleeve
- Two independent torsion spring check modules
- Bottom mounted differential pressure relief valve
- Two drip tight shutoff valves, specifically grooved gear operated butterfly valves with tamper switch
- Required test cocks
Flood Detection & Alerting
- Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
- An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the kit, the sensor is passive and will not communicate.
- When activated, the sensor relays a signal that triggers a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events.
- Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
- Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs
What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?
This backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of non-potable water, including fire protection substances, into the potable water supply system. It safeguards against contamination caused by backsiphonage or backpressure.
What type of installation is recommended for this backflow preventer?
This assembly is approved for horizontal N pattern installation. Always ensure it is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow and local plumbing codes.
How does the flood sensor work and what is needed to activate it?
The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert capabilities, an add-on connection kit is required; without it, the sensor is passive and will not communicate alerts.
What are the material components of the assembly?
The housing and sleeve are made from Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel. Elastomers include EPDM, silicone, and Buna 'N', while link checks are Noryl® and stainless steel. Test cocks are made of Lead Free* bronze.
What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature range?
