This Colt Series C500 3 inch Reduced Pressure Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from dangerous cross-connections, in accordance with national plumbing codes and water authority requirements.

It is ideal for health-hazard non-potable service applications such as fire sprinkler systems, irrigation, or industrial processing, preventing the reverse flow of contaminants due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

Construction & Design

• Features an extremely compact design, up to 70% lighter than traditional models.
• The assembly's housing and sleeve are constructed from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel with groove end connections for integral pipeline adjustment.
• Includes two independent Link Check modules with patented link check for lowest pressure loss and unmatched ease of serviceability.
• Replaceable check disc rubber and Noryl® stainless steel link checks ensure drip-tight closure.
• A bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve is included.
• Equipped with UL Classified and FM Approved outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.
• Approved for horizontal N pattern installation.

Metering & Monitoring

• Features a metered bypass (gallons per minute) to detect leakage or unauthorized water use from the fire sprinkler system.
• Includes a sensor on the relief valve for flood detection, designed to alert personnel to excessive water discharges.
• The flood alert feature is activated by an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately), which enables communication with other devices.
• The OS&Y model includes an option for an integrated supervisory switch on each gate valve, designed to send a tamper signal if the valve is closed or removed.
