FAQs

What is the primary use of the FEBCO MasterSeries LF856 assembly?

It is designed to protect potable water supplies from non-health hazard pollutants due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is commonly used for non-health hazard cross-connections, containment at the service line, and on fire sprinkler/standpipe systems to detect unauthorized water use.

What type of coating is used on this backflow preventer?

The assembly features ArmorTek® powder coating, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, applied to both internal and external surfaces. This coating is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.

What are the key features of the auxiliary bypass on this unit?

The auxiliary bypass has a compact design that includes an in-line serviceable 3/4 inch check assembly, field replaceable seat and disc, and a GPM meter. This bypass is designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

What are the pressure and temperature ratings for the 3 inch LF856 assembly?

The maximum working pressure is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It has a hydrostatic test pressure of 350 psi and a hydrostatic safety pressure of 700 psi. The continuous operating temperature range is 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF856 is lead-free. The wetted surface of this product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.
