Description

The 3 inch MasterSeries LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly safeguards potable water systems from high hazard contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage. Featuring a lead-free ductile iron body with ArmorTek® epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and stainless steel internal components, this assembly ensures reliable performance. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology provides early detection of excessive relief valve discharge. Designed for inline serviceability, this unit is supplied without shutoff valves, offering flexibility for custom installations. It is ASSE 1013, UL, FM, and IAPMO approved.

Additional Details

This 3 inch lead-free MasterSeries® LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow preventer assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard/toxic fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

This assembly (LG option) is supplied without shutoff valves and includes a lead-free ductile iron body, top-mounted test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

Construction & Design

  • Features a ductile iron valve body design (Grade 65-45-12) for durability.
  • Coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system, applied to internal and external surfaces, engineered to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Utilizes stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Includes modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Designed for inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools.
  • Features a captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Equipped with a clapper check assembly and a captured O-ring design.

Flood Sensor Technology

  • An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The sensor is designed to relay a signal that can trigger multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication with other devices (e.g., BMS, cellular networks, or Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi). Without a connection kit, the flood sensor acts as a passive component. Ensure proper drainage is provided for any discharge event as the flood sensor does not replace this requirement.

FAQs

What is the primary use of the LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly?

The LF860 assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions, particularly for high hazard/toxic applications as mandated by local codes.

Does this particular LF860 assembly include shutoff valves?

No, this specific configuration (LG option) of the LF860 assembly does not include shutoff valves. They must be sourced and installed separately if required for your application.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit this backflow preventer?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the ductile iron body. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, significantly extending the life and reliability of the assembly.

What is the function of the integrated flood sensor?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When connected with an add-on kit, it can trigger alerts via call, email, or text to notify personnel of potential flooding.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this device?

This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar) and can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
