This Maxim™ 3 inch double check detector backflow preventer assembly is designed for flexible installation. It is approved for both horizontal and vertical installations, guided by the flow arrow on the assembly.

For proper operation and maintenance, ensure adequate clearance around the valve. A minimum of 12 inches of clearance is required between the lower portion of the assembly and the floor or grade. The valve must be protected from freezing. To accommodate normal discharge and nuisance spitting, the use of an Ames air gap fitting and a fabricated indirect waste line is recommended, along with floor drains of the same size as the valve itself.
