FAQs

What is the primary use of the Watts 709DCDA Double Check Detector Assembly?

This assembly is primarily used to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection system substances and non-potable water into a potable water supply, typically in non-health hazard cross-connections like fire sprinkler systems.

What is ArmorTek® coating technology and what does it protect against?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the cast iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates from electrochemical corrosion.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this backflow preventer?

The assembly is equipped with domestic Outside Stem and Yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves, which are UL Classified and FM Approved.

Does this assembly include a meter, and what is its purpose?

Yes, it includes a 5/8" x 3/4" bronze gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass. This meter helps detect underground leaks that would otherwise be unaccounted for and identifies unauthorized water usage.

What are the key approvals and standards met by the 4 inch Watts 709DCDA?

The 4 inch Watts 709DCDA is UL Classified, FM Approved, and meets ASSE 1048 and AWWA Standard C510. It is also approved by the Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research.
