FAQs

What is the primary function of the Colt C400-BFG-FS backflow preventer?

Its primary function is to prevent reverse flow and contamination of potable water systems from non-potable substances, addressing both backsiphonage and backpressure scenarios in health hazard applications.

What does 'Lead Free' construction mean for this product?

Lead Free construction indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which comes into contact with consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor work, and what is required to activate it?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor to relay alerts (call, email, text), an add-on connection kit must be purchased separately. Without the kit, the sensor is passive.

What type of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly is equipped with grooved gear operated butterfly valves that feature an integrated tamper switch, ensuring secure and monitored shutoff capabilities.

What are the approved installation orientations for this backflow preventer?

This assembly is approved for horizontal, N-pattern, and Z-pattern horizontal installations, provided it is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow and local codes.
