Description

The Colt 4 inch Series C400 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly with a flood sensor provides critical protection against contamination from backsiphonage and backpressure in potable water systems. This lead-free unit features a durable Type 304 stainless steel housing, non-rising stem gate valves, and torsion spring check modules. Its compact, lightweight design supports horizontal installation with groove couplings for easy pipe alignment. The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology detects relief valve discharges and can send multichannel alerts when paired with an add-on connection kit. Approved to ASSE 1013, CSA B64.4, UL, FM, and NSF/ANSI 61-G standards.

Help Me Connect

The Colt™ Series C400 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer features groove couplings designed for easy installation and precise pipeline alignment. For advanced flood monitoring capabilities, an add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the integrated flood sensor.

These connection kits offer various communication options:

  • BMS integration
  • Cellular communication
  • Sensor Control Monitor for integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

This allows personnel to receive multichannel alerts (call, email, text) for potential flooding events.

Additional Details

This Colt™ 4 inch Series C400 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage or backpressure by preventing the reverse flow of contaminated water into the supply.

This assembly features an extremely compact, lightweight design with a stainless steel body, non-rising stem gate valves, and a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology for enhanced monitoring.

Features

  • Lead Free* construction complies with installation requirements
  • Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve for durability
  • Domestic non-rising stem gate valves are resilient seated and drip tight
  • Two independent Link Check modules with reversible elastomer discs (silicone or EPDM)
  • Torsion spring check modules offer ease of serviceability
  • Groove couplings facilitate easy installation and pipe alignment
  • Ball valve type test cocks with Lead Free* bronze body
  • Approved for horizontal installation in accordance with flow direction
  • Corrosion resistant stainless steel bottom mounted pressure relief valve

SentryPlus Alert® Technology

  • Integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve
  • When paired with an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay multichannel alerts (call, email, text) for potential flooding events
  • Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi
An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication; without it, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with other devices.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the Colt 4 inch C400 RPZ Backflow Preventer?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable water due to backsiphonage or backpressure, ensuring the safety of the water supply.

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the Colt 4 inch Series C400 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly features Lead Free* construction, meaning the wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor becomes active and can relay multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.

What are the key materials used in the construction of this assembly?

The housing and sleeve are made from Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel. Elastomers include EPDM, silicone, and Buna 'N'. Test cocks feature a Lead Free* bronze body.

What are the installation requirements for this backflow preventer?

This assembly is approved for horizontal installation. It features groove couplings for easy installation and pipeline adjustment. It is also configurable for horizontal or N-pattern installations.
