Description

A 4-inch Colt lead-free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly with OSY resilient seated gate valves, a flanged inlet, and a grooved outlet. It protects potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage or backpressure in health hazard applications. Constructed with a Type 304 stainless steel housing, it features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect relief valve discharge. An optional connection kit enables remote flood alerts and integration with building management systems. Maximum working pressure is 175 psi. Item number F0191570.

Help Me Connect

This Colt 4 inch backflow preventer features a flanged inlet connection and a grooved outlet connection. This configuration allows for adaptable integration into various piping systems.

The OSY gate valves are designed for easy operation and maintenance, providing reliable shutoff. For installation, the assembly is approved for horizontal installation and should be positioned in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow.

An add-on sensor connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for remote monitoring and alerts. Connection kits support integration with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or Wi-Fi via the Sensor Control Monitor. When installing a drain line on the Series C400 backflow preventer, use a 400/500 air gap for proper drainage.

Additional Details

The Colt 4 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards.

This assembly consists of a Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel body with a quick access sleeve, torsion spring check modules, OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves with a flanged inlet and grooved outlet, test cocks, and a bottom mounted pressure relief valve.

The backflow assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events via multichannel alerts (call, email, text). Connection kit options include Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any other device. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary use of this backflow preventer?

This assembly is primarily used to protect potable water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable water due to backsiphonage or backpressure in health hazard applications.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this product?

"Lead Free" indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor work and what do I need to activate it?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert capabilities, an add-on sensor connection kit is required, which enables remote notifications and integration with various systems.

What type of connections does this backflow preventer have?

This 4-inch backflow preventer features a flanged connection on the inlet side and a grooved connection on the outlet side, providing flexibility for installation into existing pipelines.

What materials are used in the construction of this assembly?

The housing and sleeve are made from Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel, with reversible silicone or EPDM check discs and Lead Free* bronze body test cocks.
