Additional Details

This Colt™ 4 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards.

The assembly features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.

Construction

  • Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve with groove end connections
  • Includes two independent Link Check modules with reversible elastomer discs
  • Equipped with two drip tight grooved gear operated butterfly valves with tamper switch
  • Bottom mounted pressure relief valve and required test cocks

Flood Sensor Features

  • Detects continuous discharge from the relief valve
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor relays alerts for potential flooding
  • Add-on connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor
  • Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer is designed to protect potable water systems from contamination by preventing the reverse flow of non-potable substances and water due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

Does this assembly comply with lead-free standards?

Yes, this Series C400 assembly features Lead Free* construction, meaning the wetted surface contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, to comply with current installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor work?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is installed, the sensor activates to relay multi-channel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events.

What kind of shutoff valves are included with this assembly?

This assembly comes with two drip tight grooved gear operated butterfly valves that include a tamper switch for enhanced security and monitoring.

What are the connection options for the flood sensor?

When activated with an add-on connection kit, the flood sensor can integrate with Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, or a Sensor Control Monitor, enabling connectivity with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
