Additional Details

This Colt 4 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure. It is approved for horizontal Z pattern installation and commonly used in health hazard applications where continuous pressure piping requires protection.

Construction & Design

  • Features an extremely compact design, making it approximately 70% lighter than traditional models.
  • The housing and sleeve are constructed from Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel pipe.
  • Includes two independent Link Check modules and a differential pressure relief valve.
  • Groove couplings facilitate easy installation and integral pipe alignment.
  • Equipped with grooved gear operated butterfly valves that include a tamper switch.
  • Patented link check design ensures the lowest possible pressure loss.
  • Designed for unmatched ease of serviceability with torsion spring check modules and reversible elastomer discs.
  • Contains drip tight shutoff valves and required test cocks.
  • Approved for horizontal Z-pattern installation.

Flood Detection & Alerting

  • Integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding events.
  • Connection kit options allow for integration with BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor for BAS integration via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • An integrated supervisory switch is available as an option on each gate valve of the OS&Y model.

Note: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert features. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with other devices.
