Description

The Ames Fire & Waterworks Colt C500 is a 4-inch stainless steel reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly designed to protect potable water supplies from health-hazard cross-connections. It prevents the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. This model features 304 stainless steel construction, domestic OS&Y resilient seated gate valves, and a bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharge. With an add-on connection kit, the sensor relays alerts for potential flooding events in fire sprinkler systems. Item number F0206409.

Additional Details

This Colt™ 4 inch reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable water into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

It is ideal for protecting health-hazard cross-connections such as on fire sprinkler systems and at service line entrances from contaminants.

Product Design & Protection

  • Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect continuous discharge from the relief valve.
  • An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor, enabling relay of alerts for potential flooding events.
  • Includes domestic outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) resilient seated gate valves.
  • The assembly contains two independent Link Check modules and a differential pressure relief valve.
  • A metered bypass with a cubic feet per minute meter helps detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Extremely compact design, approximately 70% lighter than traditional assemblies.
  • Unmatched ease of serviceability with a patented link check for lowest pressure loss and replaceable check disc rubber.

Construction

  • Housing and sleeve are constructed from 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel pipe with groove end connections.
  • Bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve.
  • Lead-free* bronze body test cocks.
  • Elastomers are made from EPDM, silicone, and Buna 'N'.

WARNING: It is illegal to use this product in a plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Consult local water authority, building, and plumbing codes before installation.
