Description

The 4 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed for high hazard/toxic applications, protecting potable water systems from backpressure and backsiphonage. This model features a robust ductile iron body with ArmorTek® advanced epoxy coating for superior corrosion resistance and extended life. It includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology for detecting excessive water discharge, which requires an add-on connection kit for activation. Built with stainless steel relief valve seats and check components, this assembly provides reliable performance. This configuration does not include shutoff valves and is suitable for industrial installations. Item number F122928.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

This LF860 assembly includes a passive flood sensor. To activate and enable flood detection alerts, an add-on connection kit is required. Connection kit options include:

  • BMS (Building Management System) communication
  • Cellular network communication
  • Sensor Control Monitor, enabling integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

Shutoff Valves

This specific configuration of the LF860 assembly does NOT include shutoff valves. These must be acquired separately if required for your installation.

Additional Details

The 4 inch MasterSeries® LF860 Lead Free Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to protect potable drinking water systems from high hazard/toxic contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage. It is primarily used in industrial installations where local codes mandate protection against non-potable quality water being pumped or siphoned back into the potable water supply.

This assembly is supplied without shutoff valves and features a lead free body, top-mounted test cocks, spring-loaded check valves, and a pressure differential relief valve.

Advanced Corrosion Protection

  • The ductile iron body components are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system.
  • ArmorTek® technology is designed to limit both microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate for extended durability.
  • Utilizes a stainless-steel relief valve seat and stainless-steel check components for maximum performance and extended valve life.

Integrated Flood Detection

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal to trigger multichannel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component and will not communicate with other devices. Proper installation and drainage in the event of discharge are essential; Watts® is not responsible for alert failures due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of the 4 inch LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer?

This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by high hazard (toxic) fluids due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in industrial applications where local codes mandate such protection.

What does "Lead Free" construction mean for this backflow preventer?

"Lead Free" means the wetted surface of this product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% lead by weight. This complies with low lead installation requirements for potable water systems.

How does the integrated flood sensor function, and what is needed to activate it?

The flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate it and enable multichannel alerts (call, email, text), an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor is a passive component and will not communicate.

What materials are used for the main components of this backflow preventer?

The main valve body and relief valve body are made from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12, coated with ArmorTek® powder coating. Key internal components like check seats, relief valve seat, disc holders, and springs are stainless steel, with silicone elastomer discs.

Are shutoff valves included with the 4 inch LF860-LG-FS assembly?

No, this specific "LG" (Less Gate Valves) configuration of the LF860 assembly does not include shutoff valves. They must be acquired separately if required for your installation.
