Description

The FEBCO MasterSeries LF886V is a 4 inch lead-free reduced pressure zone detector backflow preventer assembly (Type II). It is engineered to protect potable water systems from high hazard backpressure and backsiphonage conditions. Featuring a durable ductile iron body with patented ArmorTek® coating for enhanced corrosion resistance, it ensures long-term performance. The assembly includes stainless steel check components and a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect relief valve discharges. An integrated gallons per minute (GPM) metered bypass line monitors for leaks and unauthorized usage. This assembly is UL Classified and FM Approved, suitable for demanding industrial applications.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • This assembly includes a flood sensor designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
  • To activate the flood sensor's alert capabilities, an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor operates as a passive component and cannot communicate with other devices.
  • Connection kit options include those for Building Management Systems (BMS), cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • A retrofit sensor connection kit is also available for existing installations.

Additional Details

The FEBCO MasterSeries LF886V Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Assembly protects against backpressure and backsiphonage for high hazard/toxic applications in potable drinking water systems. It is primarily used where local codes mandate protection from non-potable water sources entering the potable water supply.

This assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, capable of triggering multi-channel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel of potential flooding.

Construction & Design

  • Features a ductile iron valve body and ArmorTek® coating technology, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Utilizes stainless steel relief valve seats and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Designed for inline serviceability without special tools.
  • Includes captured modular spring assembly, reversible and replaceable discs, and field replaceable seats.
  • Equipped with OS&Y resilient wedge gate valves that are UL Classified and FM Approved.

Auxiliary Bypass

  • Features a compact design that remains within the main valve assembly profile.
  • Includes an inline serviceable 3/4" check assembly with no special tools required.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.
  • Incorporates a gallons per minute (GPM) water meter.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Always read all installation instructions and product safety information before beginning installation and inquire with governing authorities for local requirements.

FAQs

Q: What is the primary use of the FEBCO LF886V backflow preventer?

A: This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, especially in high hazard or toxic applications where local codes mandate such protection.

Q: What is ArmorTek® coating, and why is it important?

A: ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces, extending the lifespan and reliability of the backflow preventer.

Q: How does the integrated flood sensor work?

A: The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on connection kit, it relays signals to trigger multi-channel alerts (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding events.

Q: Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

A: Yes, the FEBCO MasterSeries LF886V is lead-free. The wetted surface of this product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with low lead installation requirements.

Q: What is the operating temperature range for this assembly?

A: The FEBCO LF886V is designed to operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
