Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • This Watts LF909 assembly includes a built-in flood sensor for detecting excessive water discharge.
  • To activate the sensor's alert features for remote notification, an add-on sensor connection kit is required (sold separately).
  • The connection kit enables compatibility with Building Management Systems (BMS) and cellular network communication.
  • Without the add-on connection kit, the flood sensor functions as a passive component and does not communicate with external devices.

Additional Details

This 4 inch Watts LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water supplies from pollution due to backsiphonage and backpressure, suitable for health hazard cross-connections and continuous pressure piping applications.

It features a durable epoxy coated cast iron body and a patented ArmorTek® 3-part advanced epoxy coating system to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates. The assembly is constructed with Lead Free* materials, ensuring compliance with Lead Free* installation requirements.

Key Features

  • Equipped with an exclusive air-in/water-out relief valve design for maximum discharge capacity during emergency conditions, even with both checks fouled.
  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately), this sensor relays notifications to facility personnel, helping prevent flooding and costly damage.
  • Replaceable seats and stainless steel internal parts facilitate easier maintenance.
  • Features captured spring check assemblies and fused epoxy coated and lined checks for reliable performance.
  • This model is supplied without shutoff valves.

An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor's alert features. Without this kit, the sensor operates as a passive component with no communication capabilities.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Watts LF909 Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventer?

The primary function is to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water into the potable water supply from backsiphonage or backpressure, protecting against health hazards in continuous pressure piping applications.

Is this backflow preventer assembly lead-free?

Yes, the Watts LF909 features Lead Free* construction, meaning the wetted surface contacting consumable water contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free* installation requirements.

How does the flood sensor work, and what is needed to activate its alert features?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert features and relay notifications, an add-on sensor connection kit is required (sold separately). Without this kit, the sensor is passive.

What type of coating is used on the LF909 body, and what are its benefits?

The LF909 body utilizes ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system. This coating is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.

Does this assembly come with shutoff valves?

No, this specific Watts LF909 model (LF configuration) is supplied without shutoff valves.
