This Colt 4 inch lead free double check detector backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of pollutants and water of non-potable quality from entering the potable water supply system. It is primarily used on fire line sprinkler systems to monitor unauthorized water use and in other non-health hazard applications, protecting against backflow caused by backsiphonage or backpressure.

The OS&Y model includes an option for an integrated supervisory switch on each gate valve, enhancing system monitoring.
