Description

The 4 inch Colt LFC500-OSY-G-FS is a lead free reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly, designed to protect potable water systems from contamination. It prevents backflow from fire sprinkler systems and other health-hazard cross-connections. Featuring a compact 304 stainless steel body, OSY gate valves, and a gallon per minute meter, it offers superior durability and leak detection. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharge, offering enhanced monitoring capabilities when paired with an add-on connection kit. Rated for 175 psi working pressure.

Help Me Connect

This Colt™ LFC500 Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly is designed for installation at cross-connections where health hazards exist, such as on fire sprinkler systems and at the service line entrance to prevent backflow into the potable water supply.

Connections

  • Features grooved inlet and outlet gate connections for straightforward installation into your pipeline.
  • Equipped with Outside Stem and Yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves for isolation.

Flood Sensor Activation

  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately) to activate its alert capabilities.
  • Connection kits offer options such as integration with BMS via RS-485 Modbus, cellular communication, or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This Colt™ 4 inch lead free reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly (RPDA) safeguards potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage and backpressure.

It is ideal for health-hazard cross-connections, such as those found on fire sprinkler systems and at service line entrances.

Design & Construction

  • Features an extremely compact design, making it significantly lighter than traditional backflow preventers.
  • The entire valve body and closure sleeve are manufactured from Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance.
  • Includes torsion spring check valves, test cocks, and a corrosive resistant bottom-mounted pressure relief valve.
  • Equipped with outside stem and yoke (OSY) resilient seated gate valves.
  • Drip tight shutoff valves prevent leakage.
  • Patented link check ensures lowest pressure loss and offers unmatched ease of serviceability with replaceable check disc rubber.
  • Comes furnished with a gallon per minute meter to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use from the fire sprinkler system.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Features a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • When paired with an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events via BMS, cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor (integrating with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi).
  • The OS&Y model includes an option for an integrated supervisory switch on each gate valve.

Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge. Watts® is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.
