Description

The Watts 6-inch 909RPDA Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly Backflow Preventer is designed for health hazard applications in fire protection systems. It prevents reverse flow of non-potable substances into the potable water supply. Featuring an ArmorTek® epoxy-coated cast iron body for corrosion resistance, domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves, and replaceable stainless steel seats, this assembly ensures durability. An integrated GPM meter detects leaks, while a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology signals excessive relief valve discharge, preventing costly water damage. Item number 88009377.

Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology requires an add-on sensor connection kit (sold separately) to activate its notification features.
  • Once activated, the sensor can relay signals for potential flooding to service personnel.
  • The add-on sensor connection kit is compatible with Building Management Systems (BMS) and cellular network communication platforms.
  • Without the connection kit, the sensor remains a passive component with no external communication.

Additional Details

This 6 inch Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly Backflow Preventer (Series 909RPDA) is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection system substances, such as glycerin wetting agents, stagnant water, and non-potable water, from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply. It is ideal for health hazard applications and continuous pressure piping at cross-connections, utilizing a unique relief valve to stop potential backflow.

Construction & Features

  • The assembly features an epoxy coated cast iron body and domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves.
  • Incorporates ArmorTek® coating technology, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system, to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Includes replaceable stainless steel seats, captured spring check valves, and top mounted test cocks.
  • A GPM (gallons per minute) meter is furnished to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water use.
  • Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve, signaling potential flooding to service personnel.
  • Designed for maximum flow at low pressure drop and compact for economy combined with performance.

An add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the sensor is a passive component that has no communication with any other device. Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of this product, including the need to provide proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this 6-inch backflow preventer?

Its primary purpose is to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection system substances, such as non-potable water, from contaminating the potable water supply in health hazard applications.

How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit this backflow preventer?

The ArmorTek® coating is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the cast iron body. It is engineered to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal surfaces, enhancing the product's longevity.

What is the function of the integrated flood sensor?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When activated with an add-on kit, it triggers notifications to facility personnel, helping to prevent flooding and damage.

Is an additional component needed to use the flood sensor's alert features?

Yes, an add-on sensor connection kit, sold separately, is required to activate the flood sensor's alert features and enable communication with BMS or cellular networks.

What is the role of the GPM meter included with this assembly?

The GPM (gallons per minute) meter is furnished with the assembly to detect underground leaks and unauthorized water usage within the fire protection system.
