Flood Sensor Connectivity

This backflow assembly features an integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology. To activate and utilize the flood alert capabilities, an add-on sensor connection kit is required. Connection kit options enable communication with various systems:

  • BMS (Building Management Systems)
  • Cellular Communication Networks
  • Sensor Control Monitor, which allows integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.

Without a connection kit, the sensor is a passive component with no communication capabilities. Watts is not responsible for the failure of alerts due to connectivity issues, power outages, or improper installation.

Additional Details

This 6 inch Watts 957RPDA Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly backflow preventer protects potable water systems from contamination caused by back-siphonage and backpressure, making it ideal for health hazard applications. It also monitors unauthorized water use within fire protection systems. Its compact design is 70% lighter than traditional models and approved for horizontal installation.

The assembly features a stainless steel body, torsion spring check valves, resilient seated gate valves with outside stem and yoke, test cocks, and a corrosive resistant bottom-mounted pressure relief valve. It comes equipped with a gallon per minute meter for detecting underground leaks and unauthorized water usage.

A flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology is integrated to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, this sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events to facility personnel, helping to limit flooding and costly damage.

WARNING: It is illegal to use this product in any plumbing system providing water for human consumption, such as drinking or dishwashing, in the United States. Before installing, consult your local water authority, building, and plumbing codes.
