Description

This Colt 6 inch lead free Reduced Pressure Zone backflow preventer assembly is engineered to protect potable water systems from contamination due to backsiphonage and backpressure. Featuring durable Type 304 stainless steel construction and OSY resilient seated gate valves with grooved inlet and outlet connections, it is ideal for health hazard cross-connections and continuous pressure applications. An integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert technology detects relief valve discharges, providing early notification of potential flooding when paired with an add-on connection kit. Its compact, lightweight design ensures unmatched ease of serviceability and installation.

Help Me Connect

This backflow preventer assembly features grooved inlet and grooved outlet connections, designed for easy installation and pipe alignment using groove couplings.

It is approved for horizontal installation, provided the assembly is installed in accordance with the direction of the flow arrow.

The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) to activate its alerting features, enabling integration with building automation systems or remote notifications via cellular/Wi-Fi.

Additional Details

This Colt™ 6 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable quality water from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards.

Key Features

  • Lead Free Construction: The wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.
  • Housing & Valves: Features a Type 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve with OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves that include grooved inlet and grooved outlet connections. The assembly contains two independent Link Check modules, a differential pressure relief valve, and required test cocks.
  • Flood Detection & Alerting: Equipped with a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit (sold separately), the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
  • Design & Serviceability: Offers an extremely compact design, making it 70% lighter than traditional designs and allowing for smaller enclosures. Features torsion spring check modules for unmatched ease of serviceability and groove couplings for easy installation and pipe alignment. Includes drip tight shutoff valves.
  • Integrated Supervisory Switch: The OS&Y model includes an option for an integrated supervisory switch on each gate valve.

FAQs

What is the primary function of the Colt C400 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly?

This assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and non-potable quality water into the potable water supply, protecting against contamination from backsiphonage or backpressure.

What type of connections does this 6-inch backflow preventer use?

This assembly features grooved inlet and grooved outlet connections, utilizing OSY (Outside Stem and Yoke) resilient seated gate valves for secure and straightforward installation.

Is this backflow preventer compliant with "Lead Free" requirements?

Yes, this product features Lead Free construction, meaning the wetted surfaces that contact consumable water contain less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with national plumbing codes.

How does the flood sensor system operate?

The integrated flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alerting capabilities (like call, email, text notifications or BAS integration), an add-on sensor connection kit is required and sold separately.

What are the temperature and pressure ratings for this assembly?
