Description

The Colt C500-OSY-C-FS is a 6 inch reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly designed to protect potable water supplies from contamination due to backsiphonage or backpressure. Ideal for health-hazard cross-connections like fire sprinkler systems, it features a durable 304 stainless steel housing, OS&Y resilient seated gate valves, and grooved connections for easy installation. This assembly includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect relief valve discharge, with optional add-on kits for remote monitoring via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi. It operates at a maximum of 175 psi and a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F.

Help Me Connect

Pipeline Connections

  • This 6 inch reduced pressure detector assembly features grooved inlet and outlet gate connections for straightforward installation.
  • The groove couplings are designed to allow for easy pipe alignment.

Flood Sensor Connectivity

  • The integrated flood sensor requires an add-on sensor connection kit for activation and communication.
  • Without the connection kit, the sensor functions as a passive component.
  • Compatible connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform via Wi-Fi.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this backflow preventer assembly?

This 6 inch Colt C500-OSY-C-FS reduced pressure detector assembly is designed to prevent contaminated non-potable water, such as from fire protection systems, from flowing back into the potable drinking water supply due to backsiphonage or backpressure.

What material is the body of the backflow preventer made from?

The entire valve body and closure sleeve of this backflow preventer assembly are manufactured from durable 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting performance and corrosion resistance.

How does the integrated flood sensor work?

The flood sensor, equipped with SentryPlus Alert® technology, detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its communication capabilities and relay alerts for potential flooding, an add-on sensor connection kit is required.

What type of connections does this assembly use for installation?

This 6 inch C500-OSY-C-FS assembly features grooved inlet and outlet gate connections. These grooved couplings facilitate easy installation and allow for integral pipeline adjustment.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this device?

This reduced pressure detector assembly has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate effectively within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
