Additional Details

This 6 inch Lead Free Watts LF709-NRS-IOT Double Check Valve Assembly prevents the reverse flow of polluted water from entering potable water systems in non-health hazard installations. It is ideal for continuous pressure piping applications and cross-connections where permitted by local authorities.

The LF709-NRS-IOT assembly features NRS resilient seated gate valves and an integrated Smart and Connected technology (IOT) system with pressure sensors, enabling monitoring of assembly performance with an optional add-on connection kit.

Construction & Design

  • Features a modular check design concept to facilitate complete maintenance and assembly, with captured spring assemblies for safety.
  • Constructed with a fused epoxy coated cast iron body and replaceable stainless steel seats.
  • Internal and external surfaces are coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates.
  • Designed for maximum flow at low pressure drop.
  • No special tools are required for servicing.
  • Approved for vertical flow up installation as well as horizontal.

Smart & Connected Technology (IOT)

  • Integrated pressure sensors at test cocks No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 measure pressure fluctuations at three locations.
  • An add-on monitoring connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate the sensors and transmit data via RS-485 interface to Building Management Systems (BMS) or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • This technology supports monitoring and assessment of backflow assembly performance and water supply system between code testing.

NOTICE: Use of integrated pressure sensors and the monitoring connection kit does not replace the need to comply with all required instructions, codes, and regulations related to installation, operation, and maintenance of the backflow preventer.

FAQs

What type of backflow situations does this LF709-NRS-IOT assembly protect against?

This assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering potable water systems due to backsiphonage or backpressure. It is used in non-health hazard installations.

Is this 6-inch double check valve assembly suitable for all water systems?

It is intended for potable water systems in non-health hazard installations where approved by the local authority having jurisdiction. It specifically prevents the backflow of polluted water, not high-hazard contamination.

What does "Lead Free" mean for this product?

"Lead Free" indicates that the wetted surface of this product, which comes into contact with consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with Lead Free installation requirements.

How does the Smart and Connected technology (IOT) work with this assembly?

The IOT model includes integrated pressure sensors at three test cock locations. An add-on monitoring connection kit (sold separately) is required to activate these sensors and transmit data to a Building Management System for performance assessment.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy system applied to the iron components of the backflow preventer. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the durability and lifespan of the assembly.
