Description

The FEBCO 6 inch LF860 Lead Free MasterSeries Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) Backflow Preventer Assembly is engineered to protect potable water systems from high hazard/toxic contamination. This assembly prevents both backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial applications. It features a durable ductile iron body with a patented ArmorTek® epoxy coating for advanced corrosion resistance, paired with stainless steel relief valve seats and check components for maximum durability. An integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive relief valve discharge, providing notification capabilities when connected to an optional kit. This specific model is supplied without shutoff valves.

Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Activation

The integrated flood sensor is designed to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate its alert capabilities and relay signals about potential flooding, an add-on connection kit is required. Without this kit, the sensor operates as a passive component and cannot communicate with other devices.

Connection kit options include:

  • BMS (Building Management System)
  • Cellular Network Communication
  • Sensor Control Monitor (enables integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity)

Important: Use of the flood sensor does not replace the need to comply with all required installation instructions, codes, and regulations for proper drainage in the event of a discharge.

Additional Details

The FEBCO 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® LF860 Reduced Pressure Zone assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination in high hazard/toxic applications, preventing backpressure and backsiphonage conditions.

This assembly, supplied without shutoff valves, is ideal for industrial installations and includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology.

Construction & Durability

  • Features a durable ductile iron valve body coated with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy system engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrate.
  • Combines a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Designed for inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools for servicing the pressure differential relief valve and check modules.
  • Includes field replaceable seats and reversible and replaceable discs.
  • Lead Free construction complies with low lead installation requirements.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Includes a flood sensor on the relief valve to detect excessive water discharges.
  • The flood sensor relays a signal to trigger a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding when activated by an add-on connection kit.
  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary function of this 6 inch backflow preventer?

This 6 inch FEBCO MasterSeries LF860 backflow preventer is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from contamination by high hazard/toxic fluids, preventing both backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial settings.

Does this backflow preventer come with shutoff valves?

No, this specific model (LF860-LG-FS) is supplied without shutoff valves, which is indicated by the "LG" in the model designation.

What material is the body made of, and how is it protected against corrosion?

The main valve body is constructed from ductile iron Grade 65-45-12. It is protected by ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to internal and external surfaces to resist microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.

How does the integrated flood sensor provide alerts?

The flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To relay alerts for potential flooding, an add-on connection kit is required, enabling communication via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi through the Sensor Control Monitor.

What are the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this assembly?

The maximum working pressure for this assembly is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It is designed to operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).
