Help Me Connect

Flood Sensor Activation

  • An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor for communication.
  • Without this kit, the flood sensor operates as a passive component and will not communicate with other devices.
  • Connection kit options include BMS (Building Management System), cellular communication, or the Sensor Control Monitor.
  • The Sensor Control Monitor enables integration with BAS (Building Automation Systems) via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi connectivity.

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries Reduced Pressure Zone Detector Backflow Preventer Assembly is designed to protect potable water systems from high hazard (toxic) fluids caused by backpressure and backsiphonage conditions in industrial installations and applications.

The assembly is supplied without shutoff valves and includes a flood sensor to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.

Main Valve Features

  • Features a stainless steel relief valve seat and stainless steel check components for maximum performance and durability.
  • Inline serviceable assembly, requiring no special tools.
  • Captured modular spring assembly.
  • Reversible and replaceable discs.
  • Field replaceable seats.
  • Ductile iron valve body design.
  • Modular and repairable pressure differential relief valve.
  • Clapper check assembly.
  • Captured O-ring design.

Auxiliary Bypass Features

  • Compact design, remaining in main valve assembly profile.
  • Inline serviceable 3/4 inch check assembly, no special tools required.
  • Field replaceable seat and disc.
  • Designed to detect potential underground water leaks and unauthorized water usage.

Corrosion Protection

  • The ductile iron body is fused with ArmorTek®, a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system, engineered to reduce both microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and general corrosion on exposed metal substrate.

Flood Detection & Alerts

  • Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology on the relief valve for flood detection.
  • The sensor, when activated by an add-on connection kit, relays a signal to trigger a multichannel alert (call, email, text) to notify personnel about potential flooding.

NOTICE: An add-on connection kit is required to activate the flood sensor. Without the connection kit, the flood sensor is a passive component that does not communicate with any other device.

FAQs

What is the primary use of this backflow preventer?

This backflow preventer protects potable drinking water systems from contamination due to backpressure and backsiphonage, particularly in high hazard/toxic applications where local codes mandate such protection.

What material is the main valve body made from?

The main valve body is constructed from durable ductile iron Grade 65-45-12, enhanced with ArmorTek advanced epoxy coating for corrosion resistance on both internal and external surfaces.

Does this assembly include shutoff valves?

No, this specific assembly (model option LG) is supplied without shutoff valves. Shutoff valves must be purchased and installed separately if required for your application.

How does the flood sensor function?

The integrated flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add-on connection kit, it can relay alerts via BMS, cellular communication, or the Nexa platform for potential flooding events.

What is the maximum operating pressure for this device?

The maximum working pressure for this 6 inch LF866 assembly is 175 PSI (12.1 bar), suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial water systems.
