Installation Orientation

  • This assembly is specifically designed for N-pattern (horizontal) installations.
  • It features a longer gate-to-gate length for convenient drop-in replacement of competitor N-pattern valves.

System Integration

The LF870W/WZ assembly should be installed on the potable water supply at each point of cross-connection. It provides protection against possible back-pressure and backsiphonage conditions for non-health hazard (pollutant) applications.

Additional Details

This 6 inch lead free MasterSeries® double check valve backflow preventer assembly is designed with a longer lay length for drop-in replacement of competitor N-pattern valves.

It is specifically engineered to prevent the backflow of pollutants that are objectionable but not toxic, from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and/or backpressure. It is ideal for protection of non-health hazard cross-connections or containment at the service line entrance.

Construction & Design

  • Ductile iron fused epoxy coated body construction with ArmorTek®, a patented 3-part advanced epoxy coating system
  • ArmorTek® coating designed to limit both microbial induced (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion
  • Features two independent check valves with clapper check assembly
  • Equipped with replaceable stainless steel check seats and reversible, replaceable discs
  • Includes non-rising stem (NRS) resilient wedge gate valves
  • Fitted with ball valve test cocks for easy testing
  • Lead Free* construction to comply with low lead installation requirements. *The wetted surface of this product contacted by consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight.
  • In-line serviceable assembly with captured modular spring design
  • No special tools required for servicing
  • Commonality between 1st and 2nd check components with captured O-ring design

FAQs

What is the primary application of the FEBCO 6 inch LF870W Double Check Valve Assembly?

This assembly is designed to protect potable drinking water systems from non-health hazard (pollutant) backflow conditions caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. It's ideal for non-health hazard cross-connections or service line containment.

Does this backflow preventer comply with lead-free requirements?

Yes, this LF870W assembly features Lead Free* construction. The wetted surface of the product that contacts consumable water contains less than 0.25% of lead by weight, meeting current low lead installation requirements.

What is ArmorTek® coating and why is it important?

ArmorTek® is a patented three-part advanced epoxy coating system applied to the ductile iron components. It is engineered to reduce microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) and protect exposed metal substrates, enhancing the longevity and reliability of the valve.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature for this assembly?

The maximum working pressure for the 6 inch LF870W is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It can operate continuously within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

Is this backflow preventer designed for drop-in replacement in existing systems?

Yes, the FEBCO 6 inch LF870W MasterSeries® Double Check Valve Assembly has a longer gate-to-gate length specifically designed to provide drop-in replacement of a competitor's valves in N-pattern (horizontal) orientations, making it convenient for system upgrades.
