Additional Details
This 6 inch lead free reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and backpressure. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards.
Construction & Materials
- Features an epoxy coated cast iron body, domestic outside stem and yoke resilient seated gate valves, captured spring check valves, replaceable seats, and top mounted test cocks.
- The coating utilizes ArmorTek®, a patented 3-part advanced epoxy coating system engineered to limit both microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and exposed metal substrate corrosion.
- Lead Free* construction complies with current installation requirements.
Flood Sensor & Alerts
- Includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve.
- When paired with an add-on connection kit, the sensor activates to relay alerts for potential flooding events.
- Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor for integration with BAS via RS-485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.
- The sensor is installed on the assembly exterior and does not alter assembly functions or certifications.
Performance & Design
- Field reversible pressure differential relief valve with a unique air-in/water-out design provides maximum capacity during emergency conditions.
- Replaceable seats and stainless steel internal parts for ease of maintenance.
- No special tools required for servicing.

FAQs
What does "Lead Free" construction mean for this backflow preventer?
"Lead Free" construction ensures that the wetted surface of this product, which contacts consumable water, contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, complying with current Lead Free installation requirements.
How does the ArmorTek® coating benefit this backflow assembly?
The ArmorTek® coating is a patented 3-part advanced epoxy system applied to the cast iron body and internal surfaces. It is designed to resist both microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and general exposed metal substrate corrosion, extending the product's lifespan.
What is the purpose of the SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor?
The SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When an add-on connection kit is used, it can relay alerts to facility personnel via BMS, cellular, or Wi-Fi (Nexa® platform), helping to prevent costly flooding.
What is the maximum working pressure and temperature range for this assembly?
This backflow preventer has a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12.06 bar). Its continuous temperature range is 33°F to 110°F (0.5°C to 43°C), with an intermittent temperature range of up to 140°F (60°C).
Are special tools required to service the Watts LF909-DOSY-FS backflow preventer?
No, the Watts LF909 Series backflow preventer assembly is designed for ease of maintenance and does not require special tools for servicing. It features replaceable seats and stainless steel internal parts.
