Description

The Colt 8 inch stainless steel reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly offers critical protection against the reverse flow of non-potable water and fire protection substances into potable water supplies. It features a durable 304 stainless steel body, OSY resilient seated gate valves, and groove couplings for straightforward installation. An integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor detects relief valve discharge, providing advanced leak detection capabilities when paired with an optional connection kit. This assembly is approved by FCCCHR-USC, AWWA, UL, and FM, ensuring reliable performance in health hazard cross-connection applications, including fire sprinkler systems.

Help Me Connect

This 8-inch reduced pressure detector backflow preventer assembly is designed for installation in horizontal pipelines. Its groove couplings facilitate easy integration and precise pipeline alignment. The assembly includes domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves for secure shutoff.

The integrated SentryPlus Alert® flood sensor requires an add-on connection kit (sold separately) for activation and communication. These kits enable connection to Building Automation Systems (BAS) via RS-485 Modbus, cellular communication, or Wi-Fi through the Nexa® platform or Sensor Control Monitor, allowing for remote monitoring and alert delivery for potential flooding events.

FAQs

What is the primary purpose of this backflow preventer assembly?

Its primary purpose is to protect potable water supplies from contamination caused by the reverse flow of non-potable water or fire protection substances due to backsiphonage or backpressure, particularly in health hazard cross-connection applications like fire sprinkler systems.

Does this assembly include a flood sensor? How does it work?

Yes, it includes a flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. To activate the sensor for alerts, an add-on connection kit (sold separately) is required.

What are the main components of this assembly's construction?

This assembly is constructed with a 304 (Schedule 40) stainless steel housing and sleeve, two independent link check modules, a bottom-mounted cast stainless steel relief valve, and two domestic OSY resilient seated gate valves. It also features Lead Free* bronze body nickel-plated test cocks.

What is the maximum operating pressure and temperature range for this device?

The maximum working pressure for this 8-inch assembly is 175 psi (12.1 bar). It operates within a temperature range of 33°F to 140°F (0.5°C to 60°C).

Is this backflow preventer approved by regulatory bodies?

Yes, this assembly is approved by the Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research at USC (FCCCHR-USC), meets AWWA C511-97 standards, and is both UL Classified and FM Approved for OSY type configurations.
